In Loving Acknowledgment & Support for Mamo Awimaku and Family

It is with deep sorrow that we share heartbreaking news from the Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta.

While in Finland participating in a cultural and humanitarian mission with NAC Golden Bridge Foundation, Mamo Awimaku and his wife, Saga Lunekun, received the devastating news of the passing of their 15-year-old son.

Their son was in training to become a Mamo, following in his father’s footsteps and preparing to carry forward the spiritual knowledge and responsibilities of his people.

This loss is beyond words.

In the traditions of the Wiwa and their sister tribes, a Mamo is a spiritual guide and guardian of balance between humanity, nature, and the unseen world. The passing of a young life devoted to this path is felt not only within the family, but across the wider community.

We hold Mamo Awimaku, Saga Lunekun, their family, and the Wiwa community in our hearts during this time of profound grief.

As a foundation, we stand with them in respect, compassion, and support—honoring both the depth of this loss and the path their son had begun to walk.

For those who feel called to support, we have created a dedicated and trusted channel to ensure that all contributions reach the family directly and safely:

Your prayers, your presence, and your care are deeply meaningful.

Thank you for standing with them in this moment.

With respect and reverence,

NAC Golden Bridge Foundation
