HUMANITARIAN SUPPORT

The Mamos, Sagas, and Indigenous families connected to our mission carry profound responsibilities for the spiritual and ecological balance of the planet. Humanitarian Support exists to meet the practical, essential, and often urgent needs that arise as part of this sacred work.

This pillar makes it possible for the elders to continue their responsibilities safely and sustainably — while ensuring their families and communities remain supported.

Why This Pillar Matters

The elders carry responsibilities that benefit the entire world.
Humanitarian Support ensures they can continue this work with stability, safety, and dignity — while caring for their families and communities at home.

What Humanitarian Support Provides

Practical Support for the Communities Who Care for the Heart of the World

Humanitarian Support ensures that the Mamos, Sagas, and their families have the essential resources they need to continue their sacred responsibilities. From rebuilding after climate impacts to supporting travel, community well-being, food, supplies, and the return of sacred materials, this pillar provides stability where it is needed most. It allows the elders to focus on the work entrusted to them while ensuring their communities remain supported and strong.

1. Rebuilding After Climate Impacts

Changes in weather patterns have led to fires, storms, and structural deterioration across the Sierra Nevada. Humanitarian support helps communities rebuild and restore:

  • Homes

  • Temples (Kankurwas)

  • Communal structures

  • Water pathways and essential areas

2. Support for Families While Elders Travel

When the Mamos and Sagas must travel — whether within Colombia or internationally — they are away from their homes for days or weeks. Humanitarian support ensures their families have the stability and nourishment they need during this time.

3. Travel for Ancestral, Governmental & Sacred Responsibilities

Elders frequently need to travel to:

  • Attend government meetings

  • Participate in ancestral gatherings

  • Complete spiritual work in specific locations

  • Engage in community decision-making

  • Join interviews, teachings, and cultural exchanges

Humanitarian support covers transportation, lodging, documentation, and other basic needs required for these important journeys.

4. Solo Sacred Journeys

Many responsibilities call a Mamo or Saga to travel alone to specific sites — whether within their territory or to other regions — to complete work that only they can perform. Humanitarian support ensures they have the resources, transport, and materials needed for these journeys.

5. Food & Supplies for Extended Sacred Work

Some healing and restoration processes require long periods of uninterrupted ceremonial work.

During these times, the elders must have:

  • Food

  • Firewood

  • Ritual materials

  • Tools

  • Supplies for all participants

Humanitarian support ensures everything is prepared in advance so the work can be carried out without interruption.

6. Retrieval & Purchase of Sacred Elements and Materials

At times, sacred elements needed for healing or territorial restoration must be obtained from outside the Sierra Nevada — including other regions of Colombia or neighboring countries.

Humanitarian support covers:

  • Travel

  • Transport

  • Materials

  • Ceremonial items

  • Coordination with local communities

This allows the elders to gather the elements required for the work they are called to do.

7. Repatriation of Sacred Elements From Switzerland

A significant collection of sacred elemental pieces is currently held in Switzerland, recovered during the Heart of the World activation. These pieces must be returned to the Sierra Nevada to complete the next stage of the work.
This requires:

  • Shipping the sacred pieces

  • A Mamo to travel to Switzerland to accompany them

  • Navigating administrative procedures

  • Safe transport and handling

  • Lodging and travel support

Humanitarian support ensures this repatriation can be done respectfully and properly.

8. Economic Support for Artisans & Community Markets

Many families rely on selling traditional mochilas, jewelry, cacao, coffee, and other artisanal goods. Humanitarian support helps artisans access:

  • Transportation

  • Market fees

  • Supplies

  • Tools

  • Event participation

Strengthening these community economies supports cultural continuity and family stability.

9. Food, Water & Basic Necessities

Communities may need support with:

  • Staple foods

  • Nutritional support

  • Water access

  • Basic hygiene supplies

  • Clothing and weather protection

Humanitarian support helps ensure well-being throughout changing climate conditions.

10. Transportation & Mobility Needs

The Sierra Nevada spans multiple altitudes and long distances. Elders often need:

  • Safe vehicles

  • Drivers

  • Fuel

  • Horses or mules

  • Urban transportation in nearby cities

Humanitarian support makes this essential mobility possible.
